Somali Aid will work to address the critical humanitarian and development needs of vulnerable and marginalised communities in overseas locations, particularly in Somalia and the Horn of Africa, where poverty, conflict, and instability have left many people without access to basic services or opportunities.
The organisation’s overseas programmes will focus on the following key areas of need:
Humanitarian Relief and Emergency Assistance
1. Food insecurity and malnutrition: Providing emergency food aid, nutritional support, and livelihood recovery for families affected by drought, displacement, or crisis.
2. Access to clean water and sanitation: Implementing water trucking, borehole rehabilitation, and hygiene promotion to prevent waterborne diseases.
3. Crisis response: Supporting communities impacted by natural disasters, conflict, or displacement with immediate relief supplies and protection services.
Access to Education
1. Orphan and vulnerable children’s education: Paying school fees, providing uniforms, and supplying learning materials to ensure children remain in school.
2. School infrastructure: Supporting the rehabilitation of classrooms and facilities to create safe and inclusive learning environments.
Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment
3. Vocational and skills training: Delivering training in trades such as tailoring, carpentry, and IT to equip youth and women with employable skills.
4. Small business support: Providing start-up tools, equipment, and mentorship to promote
5. self-reliance and income generation.
Community Development and Peacebuilding
1. Social cohesion: Promoting community dialogue and inclusion across clan and social divides.
2. Women and youth empowerment: Encouraging participation in leadership, decision-making, and peacebuilding initiatives.
